Tax Evasion and Tax Avoidance : What’s the difference?

Last July, our current government administration filed their first ever set of Tax evasion cases. Well, that is actually a great move from our Government to kill the undying corruption in the country. I remember last year, some of the high profile personalities including well known celebrities we’re being sued for tax evading.

Well for those who are not familiar with Tax Evasion, let me give you a brief introduction. Well,  as what the term suggests, it is the evading of taxes or most commonly referred to us as Tax avoidance.  Though there are some misunderstanding about Tax Avoidance and Tax evasion. Tax avoidance is more of a legal thing done in a legal process to reduce the amount of taxes that is payable. Tax evasion on the other hand is the opposite thing. It is illegal and punishable by law. Though they said that most people are being sued by such case because they failed to process or pay the taxes on time, thus lacking of Tax preparation procedures.

Taxes are very important to keep our Government running and to improve their services as well so please stop evasion. The key towards a better governance is to avoid and stop corruption completely.
