How many friends stand by you when you need them? As soon as sacrifice is required, so many of these so-called friends are busy with other matters.
No matter how dear any human may be to you, you still live your daily life pretty much alone. In the middle of the night or in the moments of fatigue or at times when others are absorbed in their own interest, you get a momentary awareness of being alone, of being unnoticed or forgotten by others.
Do not overestimate earthly friendship. Sooner or later, you must leave your friends or they must leave you. If we depend too much on any human companion, we will have to bear the painful separation later.
Human Friendship needs God’s blessing. Let’s try to help our friends come nearer to God by our good influence or example. Look forward to the purification and continuation of your earthly friendship in heaven. With God, earthly friendship can be a lasting thing.
God is our divine friend. we long to live a truthful life, a life which is not ruled by blind feelings or unthinking emotions. Our friends are human like us, with faults, limitations and short comings. No one never come between you and God. With God Alone, you will find the perfection of friendship.

As of this moment, I can only count two friends of mine who I know will stand by me in times of future moderate to slightly-hard challenges in the future. I also have one that may be included to my “Pride” (That’s what I call the inner circle of friends, since I am a Leo
).
I agree that we should not rely on other human beings. I already have that policy since high school. If you could do your work alone, then do it alone. We could also consider that no human being is worthy of our 100% trust. Only God can be given such high level of confidence.
But thinking such things is somehow contrary to the teaching of Jesus. He said that we should love our neighbors. Even our enemies. Love entails trust. To really love a person, especially a friend, then you should trust him/her also. We might be hurt in the process but that doesn’t we should stop trusting.
If we are betrayed or we are hurt by our friends, then let us cling to Jesus (our fortress), and let Him avenge for us (if necessary). We must trust people in one way or another and we do it as a product of our love to Jesus Christ.
