It is quite alarming that Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV) rose in our country dramatically in the past ten months and now, victims  includes young urban professionals especially those who are working in Call Centers. I’m previously working in the same industry but haven’t heard about this issue until i heard it from TV. Reportedly, records from the Department of Health showed that the number of HIV cases rose to 709 last year, compared to 528 in 2008. Just like SARS and H1N1 virus, the spread of AIDS is already epidemic and this kind of sexually transmitted disease spread so fast.

One more thing that we should be alarm to is that the majority of this HIV patients are mostly from ages 15-29. And take note, they are all educated. Some of those infected said they got the illness after engaging in casual or group sex, which they discovered through social networking sites on the Internet. Internet and its popularity is very uncontrollable. In fact, there are a lot of sites right now that can organize orgies quickly. If current trends hold, the health department said HIV patients in the country could balloon to 20,000 cases by 2020.

Now, who should be blame for this? The rapid growth of Internet? The lack of knowledge about the disease where Government is responsible to provide through some educational programs and courses? or the individual it self who lacks of self control and discipline?
